IFEX 2020 Experience

Indian Foundry Exhibition 2020 - 16th edition of International Exhibition on Foundry Technology, Equipment, Supplies, Services and 11th edition of Cast India Expo – Exhibition for Indian Casting, Concurrent to the 68th Indian Foundry Congress was held during February 28 – March 1, 2020.

With its rotational policy of hosting the event in different zones of India, IFEX 2020 was organized in the 'Gateway of South India' - Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Having become a significant platform for organizations in the foundry industry to network, connect, build and sell companies across the globe were present to present their state-of-the-art products and technologies.

Having been a part of IFEX since 5 years, Refcoat wanted to set the tone for sustainable way of working in-line with the year's theme of zero-waste. With an ambition of empowering foundries produce better castings at a lesser cost while being environmentally sustainable, Refcoat decided to make a bold statement setting up India's first zero-waste juice bar by Mr.Anand Raj in the IFEX stall. With this move 300 x 250ml of single-use plastic water bottles were replaced with reusable glasses. 300 plastic cups to serve juice was replaced with zero-waste juices served in fruit crusts. Not to mention, this was a hit amongst all our customers and visitors!

The following three days witnessed a lot of Refcoat's previous, current and prospective customers visiting the stall curious about the industry 4.0 ready products and technology. The AI-powered, cloud-based web application OGSS equipped with the prediction module was a big hit! The prediction module was embedded with intelligence to accurately guide foundry-men with dosage and parameter variations on the production floor. Not only was its ability to precisely predict sand parameters appreciated, foundry-men also wanted to bring in this new technology to drive informed decision making in their foundries. Manufacturing experts, strategists and thought leaders visited our stall in big numbers for a better understanding of our services and technology.

While we did have some customers in the past who were not aligned with this thought process, we were determined to stand firm on our belief and vision towards foundries - empowering foundry-men achieve zero rejections. Having our previous customers visiting us this time at IFEX wanting to work together again was indeed overwhelming! On the third day, Refcoat's MD, Mr. Vijay Gurunath addressed the gathering at the TechMart Symposium organized by the Indian Foundry Congress on Smart Manufacturing - bringing about a paradigm shift in Green Sand Technology with Nanokarb, OGSS and POLARIS. The massive potential of the state-of-the-art technology piqued the interest of both the young and the experienced.

Towards the end of the 3-day event, multiple enquires from multinational companies across India and Europe had the team planning meticulously around their visits and trials. IFEX 2020 was another step towards extending Refcoat's mission of reaching the forefront of global innovation and technology.
